Star Plus has issued an official statement dismissing reports that its top-rated series, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Season 2, is going off-air. The clarification comes after days of intense social media speculation suggesting the show would be replaced by a spin-off titled Kyunki Rishton Ke Bhi Roop Badalte Hain. The channel took to its official Instagram handle on March 26, 2026, to set the record straight, labelling the shutdown reports as "baseless."

Channel Denies Shutdown Reports

Addressing the circulating media reports, the channel clarified that there is no currently scheduled end date for the rebooted classic. "We have noticed some media reports that are circulating stating that Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Season 2 is shutting down and getting replaced with Kyunki Rishton Ke Bhi Roop Badalte Hain," the statement read. "We would like to state that these reports are baseless; we are not shutting down Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Season 2, and there is no end date for the show as yet."

Smriti Irani Shuts Down ‘Kyunki’ Spin-Off Rumours

The rumours gained traction after reports suggested a spin-off focusing on the younger generation, specifically the characters Angad and Vrinda (played by Rohit Suchanti and Tanisha Mehta). Smriti Irani, who reprises her iconic role as Tulsi Virani in the sequel, personally intervened to debunk the claims. Reacting to a social media post, Irani issued a stern warning regarding the unauthorised use of her likeness. "May want to check PR content with authorities that have IP rights. I am not associated with any other show except Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi," she commented. She further noted that "no spin-off program is authorised for my engagement legally," urging viewers not to be misinformed.

‘Kyunki 2’ Dominates TRP Charts

The second season of the cult-classic premiered on July 29, 2025, as a limited series of 150 episodes. Unlike the original eight-year run, the reboot produced once again by Ekta Kapoor focuses on a tighter narrative while blending the original cast with new faces. Returning stars include Amar Upadhyay, Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan and Ketaki Dave. They are joined by a new generation cast featuring Shagun Sharma, Aman Gandhi and Ankit Bhatia.
