New Delhi, February 20: The Central Board of Secondary Education conducted Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations on February 20, 2026, with the Class 12 Physics paper drawing significant attention from students and educators alike. According to a report by NDTV, teachers described the Physics exam as moderate in difficulty, balanced, and strongly aligned with the NCERT syllabus.
The Class 12 Physics exam concluded at 1:30 PM, while several Class 10 vocational subject exams ended at 12:30 PM. Physics, often regarded as one of the most challenging subjects, tested students on conceptual clarity, analytical thinking, and application-based problem solving. Educationist Praneet Mungali from Sanskriti Group of Schools, Pune, said the paper was fair and student-friendly. Most questions were direct and NCERT-based, though a few required deeper conceptual understanding. He noted that well-prepared students would have found the paper manageable despite its length.
Nishant Kumar Singh, Subject Matter Expert at Seth MR Jaipuria School, Greater Noida West, rated the paper moderate to slightly challenging. He highlighted that the question paper offered a balanced mix of conceptual recall and numerical application, covering key topics such as Electrodynamics, Optics, and Modern Physics. Section A featured mostly straightforward MCQs, while Sections B and C required structured explanations and numerical problem solving. Case-study based questions tested integrated understanding, and long-answer questions demanded strong conceptual foundations and effective time management.
As per the NDTV report, the paper rewarded students with solid conceptual preparation rather than rote memorisation.
The CBSE board exams began on February 17, 2026, with over 43 lakh students appearing across India. Around 25 lakh students are from Class 10 and approximately 18.5 lakh from Class 12. Class 10 exams will conclude on March 10, while Class 12 exams will end on April 10.
CBSE has advised students to reach examination centres well before time, as entry closes strictly at 10 AM. All exams are being conducted in a single shift from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
Overall, the CBSE Class 12 Physics Exam 2026 was described as balanced, concept-driven, and aligned with competency-based assessment standards.
