‘S*xual Services for INR 1,000’: Ahmedabad Woman Harassed As Obscene Notes Carry Her Number, Address
Ahmedabad police arrested a 36-year-old man after a woman alleged that obscene notes carrying her mobile number, photographs and home address were circulated across the city for nearly two months. CCTV footage from around 100 cameras reportedly helped investigators identify the accused, who allegedly threw one of the notes near Janvi Arcade.

An Ahmedabad woman has alleged that an unidentified person circulated handwritten notes attached to INR 10 and INR 20 currency notes, carrying her mobile number, photographs and home address at various locations for nearly two months. The notes allegedly contained obscene and defamatory messages, prompting repeated calls and WhatsApp messages from strangers.
The woman approached Odhav Police, following which a case was registered under Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against an unidentified accused, reports said. Police examined CCTV footage from several locations and arrested a 36-year-old man identified as Ravindra, son of Prabhulal Bhuralal Panchal, a resident of Odhav.
Obscene Notes Triggered Repeated Calls
According to the complaint, the alleged harassment began around 9 pm on July 21. The woman said notes containing her phone number, address, photograph and obscene remarks were being thrown at different locations.
One of the alleged messages asked people to call the woman's number for s*xual services for INR 1,000. It also allegedly instructed callers to send a photograph on WhatsApp if she did not answer. People who found the notes reportedly contacted the woman and sent photographs of the notes to her on WhatsApp. She said the repeated calls and messages caused significant physical and mental distress and affected her married life.
Woman Identifies Suspect in CCTV Footage
The complainant said she approached Odhav Police Station after receiving calls from different numbers for around one-and-a-half to two months.
During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from multiple locations. The footage allegedly showed a man throwing one of the notes. Note Found Near Janvi Arcade
The complaint states that on September 5, at around 10 am, the woman received a photograph of herself from an unknown number on WhatsApp.
When she contacted the sender, she was allegedly sent a photograph of a currency note carrying a handwritten paper containing her and her husband's mobile numbers, her address and obscene writings.
Her husband subsequently spoke to the sender, who identified himself as Devendra Rajput. He allegedly told them that he had found the note near Janvi Arcade on Odhav SP Ring Road at around 10 pm.
Police Check Around 100 CCTV Cameras
Police said a witness had found a currency note carrying one of the alleged messages near the parking area of Janvi Arcade on September 4.
Investigators checked CCTV cameras in the area and allegedly found footage of a man arriving on an Activa scooter and throwing a note into the parking area.
Police then tracked the scooter's route and examined around 100 CCTV cameras at locations including Naroda, Ramol Toll Plaza, Hatkeshwar Circle, Singarva village and Odhav Ring Road.
36-Year-Old Man Arrested in Ahmedabad
Police identified the accused as Ravindra S/o Prabhulal Bhuralal Panchal, 36, a resident of Shri Radhe Krishna Status, opposite Devsya School in Odhav, Ahmedabad.
Odhav Police have initiated further legal proceedings against him. The investigation is underway to establish the circumstances behind the alleged circulation of the notes and the harassment faced by the woman.
