Polling for the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) elections is underway across all member colleges today, September 18, in two separate shifts, with results for the 2026-27 student body set to be declared the following day. Students attending morning classes are eligible to vote between 8:30 AM and 1:00 PM, while those from evening classes can cast their ballots between 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM, after which the EVMs used across colleges will be sealed and transported to the central counting centre for tabulation.

Counting Schedule And Venue Details

According to an official notification issued by Chief Election Officer Raj Kishor Sharma, vote counting will begin at 8 AM on September 19 at the Multipurpose Hall of the University Sports Stadium in North Campus.

The university has also put traffic restrictions in place on several key stretches, including Chhatra Marg, Probyn Road and University Road, which will remain in effect until results are announced, according to PTI.

Key Candidates In The Fray

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has fielded Yash Dabas for president, Ishu Maurya for vice-president, Riya Chhawadi for secretary and Lakshya Raj Singh for joint secretary.

The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) has put forward Vijay Shankar Meena for president, Vir Chatrath for vice-president, Namrata Chaudhary for secretary and Gopal Choudhary for joint secretary.

The AISA-SFI alliance has named Ananya Raturi (AISA) as its presidential candidate, Akshat Shikhar (AISA) for vice-president, Stanzin Deskyong (SFI) for secretary and B Parijat (SFI) for joint secretary.

The AAP-backed ASAP has fielded Ashmit Kumar for president and Pankaj Kumar for secretary, while several independents and rebel candidates, including Ejaj Mansuri, Samarth Beniwal and Sameer Kumar, are also contesting for the top post.

ABVP Confident Of Clean Sweep

Ahead of polling, ABVP's national general secretary Virendra Singh Solanki expressed confidence that the organisation would win all four central panel posts, predicting a "4-0" victory in this year's elections.

With voting now underway, focus shifts to Friday's counting to determine which student body secures majority control of the DUSU panel for the year ahead.
