Chandigarh, January 15: A minor Dalit girl, who was found murdered in Haryana’s Jind district, was reportedly gangraped by at least two persons who also mutilated her body parts.

The victim, a Class VII student, was sexually assaulted, with the accused thrusting a sharp object into her vagina, said the doctors at Rohtak’s Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) who conducted the post-mortem.

The girl, residing along with her family in Kurukshetra, reportedly went missing on January 9. The next day, her father registered an FIR with the local police.

After a search operation was conducted by a team of 250 policemen, her mutilated body was found from a canal near the village of Budha Khera in Jind district.

Dr SK Dhattarwal, head of Forensic Medicine in PGIMS, said a total of 19 injury marks were found on the victim’s body. “She was probably sexually assaulted by more than two persons. They might have tried to thrust some object in her vagina also. Her liver was found ruptured,” the doctor was reported as saying by The Indian Express.

After murdering the victim, the accused also mutilated her facial parts to turn her unidentifiable. The police, however, were able to establish the identity through the locket of Sant Ravidas on her neck.

The Opposition has cornered the Manohar Lal Khattar-led state government over the gangrape-murder incident, demanding immediate steps to strengthen the law and order situation in the state.
