Zahra Pezeshkian, daughter of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, has drawn attention during her visit to New Delhi, where she accompanied her husband, Hassan Majidi, to the BRICS Bazaar at the National Crafts Museum. The couple explored handicrafts, textiles and cultural displays from BRICS member and partner countries, including the Iran Pavilion. Zahra also visited the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya.

Her visit came as President Masoud Pezeshkian attended the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi. Who Is Zahra Pezeshkian?

Zahra Pezeshkian is the only daughter of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. She has a master’s degree in chemistry from Sharif University of Technology and has worked in Iran’s petrochemical sector. She has also been described as a political adviser to her father.

Zahra became a more familiar public figure during her father’s 2024 presidential campaign. She accompanied him when he registered as a candidate and appeared alongside him at campaign events and rallies. During her stay in New Delhi, Zahra and Hassan Majidi visited the BRICS Bazaar at the National Crafts Museum and explored displays featuring the art and cultural traditions of participating countries. At the Iran Pavilion, the couple interacted with artisans and representatives showcasing Iranian handicrafts and cultural heritage. Videos of the visit were shared by the Iranian Embassy in India’s official social media accounts.

Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi also welcomed Zahra at the bazaar and shared photographs from the visit. What Is The BRICS Bazaar?

The BRICS Bazaar is being held at the National Crafts Museum and Hastkala Academy in New Delhi from September 10 to 15 as part of activities associated with India’s hosting of the 18th BRICS Summit. The exhibition features handicrafts, textiles, food products and other traditional items from BRICS member and partner countries. The displays bring together different craft and cultural traditions under one venue.

The participating country displays include India, Iran, Russia, China, Brazil, Bolivia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Cuba, Belarus, Malaysia, Nigeria, Uganda and Vietnam.

Zahra has also represented Iran at international events. In December 2025, she headed an Iranian delegation at an international conference in Baku focused on protecting children in the digital environment. At the conference, she spoke about challenges facing children online and called for stronger international cooperation and measures to protect children’s rights in the digital space.

She also participated in discussions on potential cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan in areas including family, women and children’s affairs.

Zahra’s Family Background

Zahra is married to Hassan Majidi. Her mother, Fatemeh Majidi, died in a car accident in 1994 along with the family’s youngest son, according to biographical accounts of President Pezeshkian. Following the tragedy, Masoud Pezeshkian raised his surviving children and did not remarry. Zahra is his only daughter.

Masoud Pezeshkian’s India Visit

President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in New Delhi on September 11 to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit hosted by India. The visit is his first to India since taking office in 2024.

On September 11, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the summit. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the two leaders discussed various aspects of bilateral relations and exchanged views on developments in West Asia.

Modi reiterated India’s position that issues in the region should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy, while also stressing the importance of freedom of navigation and the safety of seafarers.

The meeting was the second between Modi and Pezeshkian in less than two weeks. The two leaders had previously met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek on August 31.

Why Zahra’s Delhi Visit Has Drawn Attention

Zahra’s appearance at the BRICS Bazaar has added a cultural dimension to the Iranian delegation’s presence in New Delhi. While her father has been engaged in summit-level diplomatic discussions, her visits have focused on cultural and public-facing events.

Her growing visibility also reflects the role she has played alongside her father since his 2024 presidential campaign, when she became a recognisable figure during his public appearances. For now, her Delhi engagements remain separate from the formal diplomatic discussions being conducted by President Pezeshkian as part of the BRICS Summit.
