New Delhi, June 18: An encounter between security forces and terrorists was underway in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district on Tuesday. The Jammu and Kashmir Police and troops of Rashtriya Rifle launched a cordon and search operation in Waghama village following intelligence inputs about the presence of militants there. They were fired upon by holed up militants, triggering a gunfight.
The Supreme Court will hear a plea seeking safety and security of doctors in government hospitals across the country. A vacation bench of Justices Deepak Gupta and Surya Kant will hear the petition which sought directions to Union ministries of home affairs and health and West Bengal to depute government-appointed security personnel at all state-run hospitals across the country to ensure safety and security of doctors.
Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is scheduled to chair a meeting of her party's Parliament strategy group today to plan a strategy for the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament. In the meeting, leaders are likely to discuss a common agenda to ensure better floor coordination among the Opposition parties, a source told news agency ANI.
