Bengaluru, January 1: In a horrific incident, a woman in Bengaluru alleged that she was molested by three drunk men on New Year's Eve while she was with her husband for the new year celebrations in the city. According to a tweet by ANI, the incident took place at around 1 am at Richmond Circle area on December 31. Reports inform that when the woman's husband intervened, he was also reportedly assaulted. One person has been arrested by the Bengaluru police in connection with the assault.

As soon as the incident took place, the woman registered a complaint on police helpline. A case has been filed at Ashok Nagar police station, ANI reported. New Year was celebrated in Bengaluru with pomp and gaiety, especially across the Garden City, MG Road and the Brigade Road. Many famous locations of the city,  shopping complexes, malls, eateries, luxury hotels, clubs, pubs and bars were decorated for the new year celebrations.  New Year Eve Drink and Driving Cases: Delhi Police Issues 509 Challans.

Similar incidences were reported last year where several women stated that they were molested by mobs of men during New Year's Eve celebrations in Bengaluru. To recall, mass molestation had taken place on the streets of Bangalore three years ago. To avoid such an embarrassment, elaborate security arrangements were put in place with the deployment of a sizeable number of policemen, police vehicles, CCTV cameras and cameramen.
