After nearly two weeks of silence that sparked anxiety among lakhs of Central government employees and pensioners, the 8th Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) has resumed its consultation process with a fresh schedule for stakeholder meetings in the national capital. The panel will interact directly with employee associations and unions on August 7 and August 10, signalling that work on its final recommendations is progressing.
New Delhi Meetings and Eligibility

Stakeholders who have already submitted their memorandums but are yet to interact with the panel can seek an appointment through the Commission's online portal by July 31, using their unique Memorandum ID. Specific venues and timings will be communicated independently to selected participants. The Commission has also clarified that outreach efforts will extend further, with additional consultations planned across other states and Union Territories in the coming months.
Employee Bodies Welcome the Schedule
The announcement addresses growing concerns among employee groups regarding an apparent slowdown in the panel's pace following earlier consultations in Kolkata. Several unions had expressed worry that any extended delay might push back the eventual submission of the Commission's comprehensive report. Reacting to the newly released timeline, Manjeet Singh Patel, National President of the All India NPS Employees Federation and Chairman of the Central Government Employees Confederation, welcomed the move.
"For the past two weeks, there had been no updates from the Pay Commission, which had caused concern among employees and pensioners that the commission might get delayed. We too had made a request to the commission just last week that a new schedule be issued at the earliest so that the work could be completed as soon as possible. On behalf of the employees' families, we express our heartfelt gratitude for the commission's new official schedule and request that the report be submitted at the earliest to ensure timely benefits for the people," he said in a post on X. 8th Pay Commission: Fitment Factor Decision Still Pending As Stakeholder Consultations Continue.
Background and Mandate
Constituted in November 2025, the 8th Central Pay Commission is tasked with reviewing and recommending revisions to salaries, pensions, and allowances for nearly 1.2 crore Central government employees and pensioners. Under its official Terms of Reference, the panel has an 18-month window to finalise its recommendations, alongside the provision to submit interim reports if deemed necessary.
