Ahmedabad: PG Security Guard Approaches Student for S*x, Rapes Her on Society Terrace After She Refuses

A security guard allegedly restrained a 22-year-old student using a wire around her neck and raped her on the terrace of a society in Jodhpur, Ahmedabad, late on Saturday night. Anandnagar police said the accused, Dharm Singh (27), a native of Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district, was arrested from Hebatpur early on Sunday. He had been deployed at the society only six days ago.

Assault Lasted Nearly An Hour, Victim Restrained With Wire

The woman, studying interior design in the city, was a paying guest in a flat in the society and was on the terrace for a walk when the incident occurred. Police said the s*x assault lasted nearly an hour, and the wire prevented her from shouting for help, reported India Today. After fleeing with her phone and locking her out on the terrace, the accused left her stranded until she raised an alarm and was rescued by residents living on the floors below. She was taken to a hospital and police were informed.

CCTV Footage Helped Track Accused

Sector 1 JCP Neeraj Badgujar said CCTV footage shows the accused taking the lift to the terrace around the time of the incident. Victim Under 'Severe Trauma', Say Police

DCP, Zone-7, Shivam Verma said that while the woman's medical condition is stable, she is under severe trauma. "She has been in the city for around two years for studies," said Verma, adding that she tried to scream, but the accused had overpowered her and tried to strangle her with the wire.

Police will next record her statement and probe whether the guard was aware of her routine. The security agency that deployed him will also be questioned about his registration.
