A woman in Gujarat's Ahmedabad has filed FIR accusing her husband of prolonged physical and mental abuse, alleging that he attempted to force her into sexual relations against her will. The complaint, registered by the Chandkheda police, also names her mother-in-law, alleging harassment and cruelty. Police have initiated an investigation into the allegations, as reported by TOI. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the woman alleged that her husband subjected her to repeated physical abuse during their marriage and that the situation worsened after she confronted him over an alleged extramarital relationship.

She claimed that in March this year, following an argument about the alleged affair, her husband repeatedly slapped and assaulted her, pushed her onto a bed and attempted to establish physical relations against her will. The complainant alleged that she resisted and was subsequently threatened. Surat: Lawyer Assisting 13-Year-Old Rape Survivor Accused of Raping Her, Arrested.

Mother-in-Law Also Named in Complaint

The woman further alleged that she informed her mother-in-law about her husband's alleged relationship with another woman, but was told to tolerate the situation if she wanted to continue living in the matrimonial home.

According to the complaint, another dispute in May led to her mother-in-law allegedly forcing her out of the house. She has since been living in rented accommodation with her two daughters. Ahmedabad Shocker: Father Repeatedly Rapes Minor Daughter for Over a Year in Gujarat, Impregnates Her; Arrested.

Police Register Case, Probe Underway

Based on the woman's complaint, Chandkheda police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to cruelty, assault and other alleged offences. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, and statements and evidence are being examined before any further legal action is taken.

Cases involving allegations of domestic violence and marital cruelty continue to be reported across India. Under Indian law, complaints relating to physical abuse, criminal intimidation and cruelty by a spouse or relatives are investigated through the criminal justice system. In this case, the allegations remain under investigation, and the claims made in the FIR have not yet been tested in court.
