Assam: Man Accused of Beheading Wife Dies After Jumping From Moving Police Vehicle

A 30-year-old Guwahati man, who was arrested for allegedly beheading his wife and keeping her severed head in a refrigerator, died on Monday after allegedly jumping from a moving police vehicle while being transported by officers, police said. The accused, Ramanuj Goswami, suffered severe head injuries after the incident near the Narakasur Pahar area and was declared dead at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), TOI reported.

Accused was being transported for medical examination

According to police, the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday while Goswami was being escorted by a police team. Reports differ on the precise stage of his transport, with police accounts stating that he jumped from the moving vehicle near Narakasur Pahar. Wife was allegedly killed on September 3

Goswami had been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of his 25-year-old wife, Riya Talukdar, at their Guwahati flat on September 3. Police had alleged that he killed and beheaded his wife before concealing her severed head in a refrigerator. He was subsequently arrested after the case came to light. Accused had made threats after arrest
