Bengaluru Security Guard Held Over Alleged Pakistan Army Attack Plot, Suspected TTP Links

Bengaluru Police have arrested a 25-year-old security guard in connection with an alleged plot to attack the Pakistan Army following suspected ties with the banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The accused, identified as Asaful Mallick, a native of the North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal, was apprehended in the Bommasandra Industrial Area by the Hebbagodi police team led by Inspector Somashekar G.

Investigators revealed that Mallick had been residing in Jigani, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, and was working for a private security firm. Acting on specific intelligence regarding his online activities and suspected plans, law enforcement officers detained him for questioning before formalizing the arrest. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Electronics City Division) M. Narayana, Mallick was allegedly radicalized online and established direct communication via Facebook with an Afghan national named Imran Haider, who claimed affiliation with the TTP. Preliminary inquiries suggest Mallick was motivated by anger over alleged atrocities committed against civilian populations and places of worship in Pakistan, as well as the broader Israel-Palestine conflict. Authorities stated he sought assistance from his foreign contact to orchestrate an attack targeting Pakistani military personnel. Investigators confirmed that Mallick had previously acquired a passport and initiated a visa application to travel to Afghanistan. However, the travel plans were halted due to financial constraints and family commitments. Police seized his mobile device, which reportedly contained text messages and audio call recordings detailing his intent. The Hebbagodi Police have registered a case against Mallick under Section 113(3) (terrorist act) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further probe is currently underway to ascertain whether he had local accomplices or broader logistical backing.
