The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and New England concluded its India Day weekend celebrations on the evening of August 16 with the ‘Bharat Beyond Borders 2.0’ Gala at Cipriani Wall Street. The event brought together diplomats, elected officials, celebrities, sponsors, and community leaders to honor India’s 80th Independence Day alongside the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The gala marked the culmination of FIA’s India Day weekend programme, bringing together representatives from the Indian-American community and public life. Bharat Beyond Borders 2.0: Gala Opens With Official Recognitions

The evening opened with welcoming remarks from the master of ceremonies and formal recognition of founding sponsors, including the Consulate General of India, the Bansal Foundation, and the State Bank of India.

Guests were then treated to an instrumental musical performance of Indian Raga Kirwani alongside the US and Indian national anthems, performed by the Heritage Arts Academy. The programme continued with an instrumental medley.

Official video greetings were presented from New York Governor Kathy Hochul, the Consul General and Deputy Consul General of India, Member of Parliament Harsh Vardhan, NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

FIA Leadership And Diplomatic Remarks

FIA Chairman Ankur Vaidya and FIA President Sreekanth Akkapalli addressed the gathering during the gala.

The programme also featured remarks from the Consul General of Israel, Gaurav Vashist, and representatives from Hard Rock.

The presence of diplomats, elected officials and community leaders underscored the event’s focus on India’s cultural and community ties in the United States.

Bollywood And Cultural Performances

The evening featured a range of cultural performances designed around the India Day celebrations.

The programme included Broadway-style cultural showcases and a musical performance of ‘Gokul Dham Unplugged’ by Priti Patel.

A youth musical ensemble also performed, while a mariachi band added a cross-cultural element to the evening. A best-dressed contest was among the other entertainment features.

Celebrities Join The Celebrations

Several celebrities and public figures attended the gala, drawing attention to the cultural and entertainment programme.

Pooja Hegde participated in a fireside chat, while Adivi Sesh and Avinash Tiwary also made appearances.

The team from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was among the featured attendees.

All guest artists and featured attendees were formally felicitated by FIA leadership during the programme.

Gala Concludes With Proclamation

The evening concluded with an official proclamation presented by Dilip Chauhan from the New York City Mayor’s Office.

Speeches by Rohit Korat and Manan followed the presentation, before Srishti Kaul Narula delivered the final vote of thanks.

The gala brought the FIA’s India Day weekend celebrations to a close, combining commemorations of India’s Independence Day with the broader milestone of the United States’ 250th anniversary.
