A 25-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death with an axe by her younger brother-in-law in Bihar's Jehanabad district following an argument over a delay in serving food, police said. The victim has been identified as Anshu Devi, wife of Dharmendra Kumar. The incident took place in Imadpur village under the Parsa Bigha police station limits on Tuesday.
Argument Over Food Turns Fatal
According to police, Anshu was alone at home when the incident occurred, as other family members had gone to the fields for paddy transplantation.
Her brother-in-law, Kunal Kumar, reportedly returned from work and asked for food. Police said an argument allegedly broke out after the meal was served late, following which Kunal attacked Anshu with a sharp-edged weapon, killing her. Villagers Spot Severed Head Hanging From Tree
The crime came to light after villagers noticed a severed head hanging from a banyan tree on the outskirts of the village and alerted the police.

Accused Arrested, Weapon Seized
Police arrested Kunal Kumar from the village after locals detained him. The suspected murder weapon has also been seized.
Parsa Bigha SHO Sarv Narayan said the motive behind the killing is still being investigated.
"Prima facie, it appears the accused attacked his sister-in-law following a dispute after food was served late. However, we are probing all angles to establish the exact reason," the SHO said.
Police said the accused remains in custody and is being questioned as the investigation continues.
