Ujjain, March 6: A 46-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, March 5, for the exceptionally brutal murder of a 16-year-old boy in Samanna village. The accused, identified as Gudda Patel, allegedly attacked the teenager with an iron rod and a hammer, killing him on the spot. Eyewitnesses and local police report a disturbing scene following the murder, alleging that the suspect was found attempting to consume the victim’s flesh and drinking his blood before being chased into nearby agricultural fields by a group of local residents.

The victim, Bharat Vishwakarma, was a resident of the neighboring Arthkheda village and had been visiting his sister in Samanna for a family occasion. The attack occurred as Bharat was traveling on a motorcycle with his cousin. While the cousin managed to escape and alert the community, Bharat was overwhelmed by the sudden assault. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Dehat police station. According to City Superintendent of Police (CSP) H.R. Pandey, Patel first struck the teenager with an iron rod and followed the assault with repeated hammer blows to the head. When villagers arrived at the scene, they found Patel in a state of extreme depravity, allegedly smearing the victim's blood on his face.

The suspect initially kept the gathered crowd at bay by threatening them with the blood-stained hammer. He then fled into a nearby field, leading to an hour-long standoff. Gudda Patel is well-known to local law enforcement for a previous conviction involving extreme violence. Years ago, he was arrested for slitting his wife's throat, a crime for which he served a lengthy prison term. He had been released from jail as recently as January 2026, just weeks before this latest incident. Neighbors described Patel as having an unstable and aggressive temperament following his return to the village.

The body of the victim has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and forensic experts have collected samples from the crime scene. Police have registered a case of murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are currently questioning Patel to determine if there was any prior enmity between him and the victim's family, or if the act was a random outburst of violence.
