The accused, a traffic inspector posted with the Traffic Enforcement Wing in Ranipet district, allegedly approached the woman and s*xually harassed her.
Police said the inspector was drunk during the incident. Following the alleged harassment, the couple approached the Velachery police station and lodged a complaint, prompting an investigation.
Arrest and Departmental Action
Based on the complaint and the preliminary inquiry, police arrested the inspector on Tuesday. Authorities have also initiated departmental proceedings against the officer in addition to the criminal case.
