A viral video showing members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) celebrating at a Delhi hotel after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation has triggered a debate on social media. The clips, widely shared online, show CJP members dancing and celebrating days after the group ended its 37-day protest at Jantar Mantar over the NEET-UG 2026 controversy. While some users criticised the timing of the celebrations, others defended the group's right to mark what they viewed as a successful campaign.

Responding to the criticism, CJP leader Saurav Das said the backlash reflected a misunderstanding of how younger generations approach activism.

"It just goes to show that the government and godi anchors simply do not understand the language of Gen Z and younger generations," Das wrote in a post on X.

He argued that protesting and celebrating are not mutually exclusive.

"We can sit on the road for as long as it takes. We can protest while dancing. We can organise while sipping cold coffee. The viral clips have drawn mixed reactions online. Some users defended the celebrations, saying they marked the end of a prolonged protest, while others questioned whether the gathering was appropriate after clashes between protesters and police.

One X user, Dear Men, shared the video with the caption: "Shocking Video of Dance & celebration at some big hotel by CJP members after Pradhan Resignation. Look at these Frauds."

Protest Ended After Dharmendra Pradhan's Resignation

The CJP called off its protest on July 26 after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned. The group announced the decision following a meeting with Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh.

According to the CJP, the government accepted several of its demands, including Pradhan's resignation, compensation for families of students who died by suicide during the exam controversy and the withdrawal of FIRs filed against protesters in Delhi and BJP-ruled states.

The organisation also said a follow-up meeting on broader education reforms would be held four weeks later.
