Delhi Aastha Kunj Rape Case: Phones Sent for FSL Over Suspected Video, Obscene Content, Deleted History

The Delhi Police have sent the mobile phones of all three accused in the alleged gang-rape of a 17-year-old girl at Aastha Kunj Park to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), as investigators examine their digital activity and look for potentially deleted evidence. The probe is also examining whether the accused had targeted other women or couples at the park previously.

The alleged incident took place on Monday evening at the south Delhi park. Police have arrested three men — Asif and brothers Hemant Singh and Mukesh Singh — in connection with the case. Investigators have alleged that the trio approached the girl and her 17-year-old male friend while posing as policemen before separating them. Phones Sent for Forensic Examination

According to police sources, investigators recovered objectionable videos from Asif's phone. They are also examining whether any recording linked to the alleged assault was made.

Police have said that data, including search history, was allegedly deleted from the phones of the other two accused. The devices have therefore been sent to the FSL for data retrieval and forensic analysis. Investigators are examining call records, contacts, search history and other digital footprints to reconstruct the accused's movements before and after the incident.

Police Probe Possible Attempts to Destroy Evidence

Investigators are also examining whether the accused tried to remove or destroy evidence after the alleged incident. Police sources said Hemant and Mukesh allegedly returned home and washed their clothes. The investigation is also looking into whether the three men had planned the attack. Police have recovered weapons from Asif, while the FIR has also been expanded to include criminal conspiracy, according to reports. Probe Into Earlier Incidents

Delhi Police are checking whether the accused may have been involved in similar incidents at or around Aastha Kunj Park. Investigators said the three men frequently visited the park, particularly during late hours. So far, police have said they have not found any formal complaint against them relating to an earlier incident. Investigators are nevertheless checking whether potential victims may have refrained from reporting incidents. Police are also examining reports of complaints about the behaviour of one of the accused at a gym he frequented. Officials are verifying whether those allegations have any connection with the present investigation.

Security Concerns at Aastha Kunj Park

The case has also raised questions over security arrangements inside the large park. Police have pointed out that there were no CCTV cameras inside Aastha Kunj Park and said they had alerted the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) about security concerns on multiple occasions since 2025.

DDA officials have said security guards, supervisory staff and patrol arrangements are deployed at the park. Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar also visited the park and reviewed security arrangements, directing officers to strengthen motorcycle and foot patrols.

The three accused have been arrested and sent to judicial custody. The investigation is continuing, with police examining forensic evidence, digital records, the accused's movements and possible previous incidents. The identity of the minor has not been disclosed in accordance with legal protections for victims of sexual offences.
