Delhi: Jewellery and Cash Stolen From Sangam Vihar Home While Family Attended Birthday Celebration (Videos)

A family in South Delhi’s Sangam Vihar returned from a birthday outing on Sunday night, September 20, to find their house broken into, with cash and gold jewellery stolen in a short window when the residence was left unattended. Delhi Police, along with a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, reached the Sainik Bazar area of Sangam Vihar to collect evidence. An investigation has been launched.

Family Recounts Sequence of Events

The victim, identified as Momeena, told news agency ANI that the family had gone out to celebrate her granddaughter’s birthday. Family Returns From Birthday Outing to Find Home Ransacked

Her eldest son, Fardeen, had been at home but left for another commitment. Her husband had gone out in the morning. Momeena said she called her husband, who indicated he would reach home in about 30 to 45 minutes. The family was running slightly late. “It was during that 45-minute window that it happened,” she said. When her husband arrived, he found the upper gate open, glass broken, and locks on the dressing area and other parts of the house smashed. Stolen items included a chain and cash belonging to her daughter-in-law, bangles belonging to Momeena and her daughter-in-law, and jewellery belonging to her daughters. Neighbours said the house was unoccupied at the time of the theft. One resident stated that the incident appeared to have occurred between 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM. Cupboards, doors and glass were found broken, causing significant damage. The exact point of entry - whether from above, below or the side - remained unclear at the time of reporting. Investigation Underway

Police and FSL teams were examining the site for evidence. Momeena said she could not comment further on the perpetrators, stating that it was a matter for the police to determine. Further details on the value of the stolen items or any arrests were not immediately available.
