According to the victim’s family, the teenager, identified as Khushi, left her home around 10:00 PM to purchase milk from a nearby shop. Her family alleges that Shanawaz abducted her, took her to the fourth floor of a residential building, and threw her off. Emergency services received a distress call via the 112 helpline at approximately 11:00 PM. Responding officers from the Kaushambi police station rushed the critically injured teenager to GTB Hospital in Delhi, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The victim's mother, Manju, told authorities that the accused had been stalking her daughter for several weeks. She noted that a few days prior to the incident, the two had a verbal confrontation during which the teenager reportedly slapped Shanawaz for his behavior.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Suryabali Maurya confirmed that a case was registered immediately after the family filed a formal complaint. "Based on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections and arrested the accused. A murder charge has since been added to the First Information Report (FIR)," Maurya stated. During police interrogation, Shanawaz denied the allegations, claiming he was not on the upper floor when the fall occurred. According to police sources, the accused maintains that the teenager went to the fourth floor independently while he stayed on the ground floor. He alleged that she called down to ask him to buy her a beverage just before she accidentally slipped and fell.
Ghaziabad police have stated that they are actively investigating both the stalking allegations made by the family and the counterclaims provided by the accused. Further legal proceedings remain underway.
