Hyderabad, Aug 18: Warangal Urban Collector Amrapali Kata made a startling claim while speaking to reporters, saying that her 133-year-old official bungalow is accommodated by a ghost.

Kata, who was recently appointed as Warangal Urban Collector, said the first floor of the official residence is haunted. The IAS officer claims that her predecessors, who have stayed at the bungalow, have also warned her against sleeping on the first floor of the house where the "ghost resides".

When she was assigned the bunglow as her residence, Kata ensured the first floor was cleaned up. Although she inspects the floor during the day hours, she has not dared to enter in the night.

Apart from the paranormal issues, the bungalow is also leaking massively in various quarters. A repair and renovation work is underway, the Collector said.

Kata claimed that she has conducted a research on the bunglow and found that it's foundation stone was laid by one Mrs George Palmer, who was the wife of the engineer who designed the multi-storey mansion during the reign of Nizam.

Reporters have cross checked the claims made by the Collector and found that the building was indeed designed by one George Palmer, the husband of "Mrs George Palmer" who laid the foundation stone. In the regime of Nizam, Palmer was assigned the charge of building constructions in Karimnagar, Khammam, and Warangal.

Despite the haunted status of the bungalow, Kata said she would be staying in the official accommodation, describing the lush green lawns and pet animals as incentives to bear the "paranormal presence".
