The child was reportedly playing near the cooking area when she slipped and fell into the large container of hot sugar syrup placed on a fire.
A three-year-old girl died after accidentally falling into a vessel filled with boiling sugar syrup while preparations were underway for a wedding ceremony in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district, police and local residents said. The incident occurred in the Bansgaon area on Saturday evening and left the child critically injured with severe burn wounds. According to reports, the girl’s father, who works as a confectioner, was preparing gulab jamuns along with other workers for a wedding scheduled for May 12 when the accident took place. Father Injured While Trying to Rescue Child
Family members and local residents said the girl screamed after falling into the vessel, prompting her father to immediately pull her out. In the process, he also suffered burn injuries to his hands. The child was first taken to the Community Health Centre in Bansgaon for emergency treatment before being referred to BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur due to the severity of her injuries.
Child Succumbed During Treatment
Doctors at BRD Medical College said the girl had suffered burn injuries on more than 60 per cent of her body and had developed severe blisters. She was admitted to the intensive care unit and treated for several hours before succumbing to her injuries later on Saturday evening.
