Gujarat: Married Woman Alleges Forced S*x, Po*n Pressure and Mental Abuse by Husband, and In-Laws

A married woman in Gujarat has accused her husband and in-laws of years of physical, mental and s*xual abuse in a police complaint filed at the Ahmedabad Women’s Police Station, according to a report published on June 27, 2026. Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the allegations.

The woman said the abuse began within 15 days of her marriage in 2011 and alleged that her husband’s family hid the fact that he had been married before and had a child from that relationship. The complaint says the husband returned home late at night, went to parties and forced her into s*xual relations against her will. It also alleges that when she was unwell, he pressured her to take medicines meant to increase s*xual desire and assaulted her when she resisted.

She further claimed that he showed her po*nographic videos and forced her to engage in s*xual acts similar to those in the material. According to the woman, she left for her parents’ home after the alleged abuse became unbearable, but her husband followed her, assaulted her and took her back. She also alleged that her mother-in-law and brother-in-law told her: "Our son does not like you. We are keeping you only because of society. You have ruined our home. You should take a divorce and leave."

The complaint adds that she later found her husband speaking to young women from other countries on video calls late at night, and said he showed her explicit videos involving those women and pressured her to copy the acts.

She said the abuse continued even after the birth of their third daughter and that the family later forced her out again after she raised the issue of her husband’s alleged affair. After spending five months at her parents’ home, she returned, but the pressure allegedly continued.

The woman also claimed her husband threatened her when she considered approaching the authorities, allegedly saying: "If you file any application or complaint against us, we will kill you. You cannot do anything to me. The police are under my control and, because of my connections, all policemen know me."

Despite the alleged threats, she filed a formal complaint, and police have registered a case against the husband and his family members.
