In a major development following the high-profile hit-and-run case on Gurugram's Golf Course Road, law enforcement authorities have arrested the accused driver, identified as Kalyan Bainsla. The arrest comes alongside the police invoking Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for attempt to murder. Meanwhile, the victim, female motorcyclist Sia, has publicly called for strict legal precedents to ensure road safety and deter commuter harassment across the region. Kalyan Bainsla Arrested in Gurugram Biker Sia Hit-and-Run Case.

Victim Speaks Out Against Road Rage and Harassment

Speaking out after the incident, Sia emphasized the urgent need for strict legal deterrence against reckless driving and harassment on public roads.

"Unless we instil fear of the law, such incidents will continue," she stated, questioning systemic road safety and asking whether law enforcement acts only after fatal collisions occur.

Sia recounted how the vehicle aggressively pursued her motorcycle, alleging that the occupants appeared intoxicated and intentionally swerved across lanes to collide with her sports bike before fleeing the scene.

Police Arrest Accused Driver and Escalate Charges

Following widespread outrage sparked by action-camera footage posted online, the Gurugram Police initially launched a suo motu investigation through the Sector 56 police station. Gurugram Hit-and-Run: Police File FIR After Viral Video Shows Car Hitting Woman Biker.

‘People Chase and Follow Women Bikers’

Upon analyzing CCTV footage and receiving a formal written complaint from the victim, authorities tracked down the driver, Kalyan Bainsla, arresting him in Rajasthan. Officials subsequently added Section 109 of the BNS (Attempt to Murder) to the FIR, a charge carrying a potential prison term of up to 10 years.

Sequence of Events on Golf Course Road

The collision occurred on Sunday along the busy Golf Course Road stretch while Sia was riding her Aprilia RS 457 alongside members of her biking group.

According to her account and helmet camera footage, a sedan with tinted windows repeatedly accelerated, cut across traffic lanes, and attempted to block her path. Despite attempts by fellow riders to shield her, the car rammed the motorcycle horizontally, throwing Sia to the pavement and causing the bike to slide several meters before the vehicle sped away.

Background and Growing Safety Concerns

The incident has reignited serious concerns regarding road safety, vehicular harassment, and the security of women riders on arterial routes in the National Capital Region (NCR).

While the accused initially claimed the collision was an unintentional accident, police officials reiterated that deliberate acts endangering lives on public roads will face severe legal consequences as proceedings move forward.
