Mumbai, December 2: The horrific rape and murder of a 27-year-old Hyderabad veterinary doctor has shook the nation and there is justified outrage over the incident. However, a shameful piece of news emerged related to the Hyderabad rape incident victim on the web that reflects the dreadful elements out there. According to several concerned users on social media, the Hyderabad rape and murder victim's name was searched the most by users in Indian and Pakistan on various porn sites. The abominable act has got netizens fuming and raises serious questions on lack of measures taken to safeguard the victim's identity in such cases. Several celebrities and politicians took to Twitter to express their rage on the incident, but ended up revealing the victim's identity. This is a clear violation of the Supreme Court's December 2018 ruling which bars the media or any other person from disclosing the identity of the rape victim even in cases where the victim died or was of unsound mind. The Supreme Court had issued this statement when it was hearing a plea about the disclosure of identity of rape victims. According to sections 228A of the IPC, whoever prints or publishes, the name of the victim can face imprisonment up to two years and shall also be liable to fine. The news comes even as the nation is reeling under the shock of a 27-year-old Hyderabad veterinary doctor gangraped and killed when she was on her way back home. Her charred body was later recovered by the police. The burnt body of the doctor was found at Shadnagar outskirts in the Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said that a fast track court will be set up to "deal with the horrific case" and culprits would be given stringent punishment. He also assured that all the necessary help would be given to the victim's family.

Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday met the family of the woman veterinarian who was allegedly raped and murdered in Shamshabad on the night of November 27. She also consoled the family members at their residence here. This comes after massive protests broke out across the state against the incident, in which, a veterinary doctor was brutally raped and murdered on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Shamshabad in Ranga Reddy district.

Massive protests erupted on Saturday morning at several places in the state against the incident. A team from the National Commission for Women also met the family of the victim while Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan and MoS Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy also met the family on Saturday.
