New Delhi, February 20: Days after the gruesome terror attack in Pulwama orchestrated by Pakistan-based extremist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), India has secured the backing of Saudi Arabia in combating cross-border terrorism. In a joint statement with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said his regime would extend all possible aid to India for combating terrorism.

"Extremism and terrorism are our common concerns. We would like to tell our friend India that we'll cooperate on all fronts, be it intelligence sharing. We'll work with everyone to ensure a brighter future for our upcoming generations," the Crown Prince said. If India Opens War Front, Pakistan Will Retaliate: Imran Khan.

Indicating that terrorist activities sponsored by Pakistan was one of the prime subject of deliberations held between New Delhi and Riyadh, PM Modi said, "We agreed that there is a need to increase pressure on the countries which support terrorism."

The statement, which sends a diplomatic message to Islamabad, comes a couple of days after the Crown Prince was a signatory to a joint statement issued with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan -- which condemned the attempts to "politicising" the list of UN-designated global terrorists.

Analysts in India said the Islamabad-Riyadh joint statement was a snub to India, which has demanded action against Maulana Masood Azhar, the leader of JeM which has executed various cross-border terror attacks.

Notably, the militant attack in Pulwama last Thursday had claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel. In a major diplomatic outreach, India reached out to 25 countries, seeking condemnation of the terror strike. The first among to react was P-5 member France, which has decided to move a fresh resolution against Masood Azhar.
