IndiGo Flight 6E-1486 Passenger Caught With Gold Hidden in Mouth at Bengaluru Airport
A passenger arriving from Dubai was intercepted at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru after security personnel discovered gold concealed inside his mouth during routine screening.
Security personnel at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) intercepted an international passenger on Wednesday after detecting two yellow-metal capsules weighing approximately 82 grams hidden inside his mouth. The suspect, an Indian national arriving from Dubai, was apprehended during a routine domestic transit security check, TOI reported.

Suspicious Behavior Triggers Discovery
The attempted smuggling was uncovered during the pre-embarkation security check at Terminal 1. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Sub-Inspector Deepak Kumar Sharma flagged the passenger after noticing he was unresponsive and acting unnaturally during verbal questioning at the frisking point.
Upon further physical examination and screening, security officers discovered that Siraj was concealing two metallic capsules inside his oral cavity. Handover to Airport Police
Following the discovery, CISF officers offloaded Siraj from his onward domestic flight. He was subsequently handed over to the Kempegowda International Airport police station for formal arrest and further legal proceedings.
Authorities have launched an investigation to verify the exact purity and financial value of the seized metal, as well as to determine if the suspect is linked to a broader international smuggling network.
Broader Crackdown on Transit Smuggling
The interception marks the second major smuggling attempt thwarted by the CISF at Kempegowda International Airport within a single week under airport security leadership.
On August 20, security officers at Terminal 1 apprehended two passengers arriving from Bangkok who had attempted to smuggle 260 grams of gold powder stitched into the waistbands of customized trousers. Airport security officials confirmed that surveillance and passenger profiling measures remain heightened across both international and domestic transit terminals.
