What Happened in Jamui?
The incident took place on September 19, when a teenage boy and girl returning from a coaching class were allegedly intercepted by a group of men near the Jamui-Lakhisarai road. The two minors were reportedly confronted and assaulted, while the girl was allegedly harassed by members of the group. A video of the incident was recorded and later circulated widely on social media.
The police subsequently took suo motu cognisance of the viral footage and registered an FIR under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Three Suspects Arrested, SIT Formed
Jamui Police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Deepti Monali, to identify and apprehend those involved. Police said several suspects were identified through analysis of the video footage. Three accused were taken into custody, while raids were launched to locate other suspects. Police Act Against Circulation of Minor's Video

Police have registered cases against around 120 social media account operators and warned people against sharing or reposting material that could reveal the identity of a minor victim.
Under Section 23 of the POCSO Act, publishing or revealing the identity of a child victim is prohibited, and violations can attract legal action. The investigation into the Jamui incident remains underway, with police continuing efforts to trace and take action against the remaining suspects.
