A former BJP MLA's daughter has alleged that she was molested during a student protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on July 24, claiming a man touched her inappropriately amid crowd chaos near the main stage. In an Instagram post, she said she slapped the accused three times but alleged that some volunteers and others at the protest scolded her instead of confronting the man.

The allegations have surfaced amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the student demonstrations at Jantar Mantar. The woman said she had attended the protest with her sister and described the alleged incident as taking place after a barricade fell, causing confusion among the crowd.

Woman Recounts Alleged Incident

According to her Instagram post, she was attempting to move through the crowd when the situation became chaotic.

She alleged that after the barricade collapsed, a man standing behind her touched her inappropriately. “A man standing behind me tried to touch me inappropriately and forcefully put his hand between my legs,” she wrote in her Instagram post. The woman claimed she immediately confronted the accused and slapped him three times.

The woman further alleged that instead of supporting her, some men at the protest questioned her actions. According to her account, a male volunteer repeatedly shouted at her for attending the protest, while another allegedly dismissed the incident by saying: “Such mistakes happen.” She claimed the reaction left her distressed, alleging that attention shifted towards her rather than the man she accused.

When contacted by phone regarding the allegations, the concerned leader said he had no information about the alleged incident. “I have no information about any such incident. My mother was with her, so she would know about the incident,” he said. He added that his mother had accompanied his daughter to the protest and would be in a better position to explain what had happened.

The allegation comes amid continuing scrutiny of the student protests held at Delhi's Jantar Mantar over the NEET paper leak issue. The demonstrations drew large crowds of students and activists demanding greater transparency and accountability in competitive examinations.

As of now, no official statement confirming or disputing the allegations has been issued by protest organisers or the police based on the information available.
