Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Rakhi Agarwal Asks PM Narendra Modi To Ensure Speedy Justice for Her Son (Watch Video)
Rakhi Agarwal, mother of murder victim Ketan Agarwal, has written to PM Narendra Modi seeking a speedy trial for her son, who was killed in June near Lohagad Fort. Beyond the heartbreak of Ketan’s death, the family also lost his grandfather to grief. Rakhi continues to fight for justice, urging authorities to ensure her son’s case does not simply become another ignored file.
In an emotional appeal for justice, Rakhi Agarwal, the mother of Ketan Agarwal - a 26-year-old realtor allegedly murdered near Pune’s Lohagad Fort - has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging his personal intervention to ensure a speedy investigation and trial in her son's case. The appeal, sent via email, comes as the family continues to grapple with the aftermath of the tragedy, which authorities have since reclassified from an accidental death to a premeditated murder. In her letter, Rakhi Agarwal expressed the profound loss she has suffered, stating that her "whole world has vanished" following the brutal killing.
"I never imagined that I would have to write to you seeking justice for my own son. Like every mother, I dreamt of watching Ketan build a beautiful life, get married, and grow old with us. Instead, I had to perform the last rites of my child," she wrote in her letter. "My son was brutally murdered, and with him, meri poori duniya chali gayi (my whole world is gone)," she added. "Every corner of our home reminds me of him. His room, his clothes, his photographs, and the silence that has replaced his laughter remind me every day that he will never come back," she added. A Family Shattered by Double Tragedy
The Agarwal family has faced back-to-back losses that have deepened their trauma. Rakhi Agarwal highlighted that her father-in-law, Devichand Agarwal, passed away just 20 days after Ketan’s death, unable to withstand the grief of losing his grandson. "He loved Ketan dearly and could not bear the grief of losing his grandson. Within days, our family lost two generations," she added. Ketan’s father, Vishal Agarwal, had previously written to President Droupadi Murmu on July 10, also seeking a fast-tracked investigation and timely justice for his son.
The Case Against the Accused
Ketan Agarwal was killed on June 18 during a trek at Lohagad Fort. While initial reports suggested an accidental fall, subsequent police investigations led to the arrest of Ketan’s fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Babulal Chaudhary. According to police, the two conspired to orchestrate the murder. Investigators have been building their case using evidence including CCTV footage, mobile location data, and digital analysis of the accused's activities. The Maharashtra government has appointed senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Ujjwal Nikam as the Special Public Prosecutor in the case, and proceedings are being moved to a fast-track court to ensure an expeditious conclusion.
A Mother's Plea To PM Narendra Modi
In her letter to the Prime Minister, Rakhi Agarwal emphasised that she is not seeking special favours but is a grieving mother fighting for accountability. "With folded hands, I humbly request you to kindly ensure that my son’s case receives the attention it deserves and that justice is delivered without unnecessary delay. Please do not let Ketan become just another case file," she stated. She further said, "He was someone's son, someone's grandson, someone's brother, but to me, woh meri poori duniya tha (he was my world)".
Concluding her appeal, she shared her daily struggle: "Every night I look at his photograph and say, 'Beta, Maa abhi bhi tere liye lad rahi hai' (Son, your mother is still fighting for you). I only pray that one day I can tell him, 'Beta tujhe insaaf mil gaya' (Son, you have received justice)." In an emotional video accompanying her plea, Rakhi Agarwal held her late son’s photo, struggling with the pain of his loss. "Ketan... today the whole country knows your name. Look at his smile... look at his eyes... it feels as though he is still standing before us. His smile makes it seem like he is still here. What was his fault? What was my fault? Why was my son killed? Even today, it feels as though he is asking, 'What was my mistake?" she said. Reflecting on the upcoming festival of Rakhi, she added, "'Raksha Bandhan' is next month. Whom will his sister tie a 'rakhi' to? My entire family has been shattered by this tragedy. His grandfather could not bear the shock and left us too. I wanted to see my son get married. He was excited about his future. He had dreams and had made plans for his life". Describing her ongoing grief, she shared, "Mummy... Mummy... Even today, I feel like he is calling me. The day he left home, he spoke to me so lovingly. We all sat together and had a meal. A month has passed, but I still feel that he will walk through the door and come back home." In the end, Rakhi Agarwal concluded her video with a desperate plea: "Please... Justice for Ketan. Please help my son get justice."
