Pune police have alleged that 20-year-old Siya Goyal and her 22-year-old partner Chetan Chaudhary first considered injuring her fiancé Ketan Agarwal to delay their wedding before allegedly changing their plan and pushing him into a gorge at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18. Both accused are currently in judicial custody as police continue their investigation.

According to investigators, Siya and Ketan had been engaged since February, with their wedding planned for November in Jaipur. Police said Siya did not want to elope with Chetan because she did not want to dishonour Ketan's family or bring shame to her own family. Siya Goyal, Chetan Chaudhary Initially Planned To Delay Wedding by Injuring Ketan Agarwal, Later Chose Murder: Police.

Police Allege Plan Changed From Delaying Wedding to Eliminating Ketan

According to police statements reported by PTI, Siya and Chetan initially discussed ways to delay the marriage, including causing injuries to Ketan in what could appear to be an accident.

Investigators said the pair later considered the idea too risky. Police allege that their urgency increased ahead of an eight-day Bali trip scheduled to begin on June 6. Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: WhatsApp Chats Show Accused Referring to Each Other As 'Husband and Wife'.

According to investigators, Siya and Chetan feared Ketan could reveal their relationship if he survived and discovered the alleged plan. Police said the two then decided to "eliminate him".

Police claim the alleged plan was prepared over several weeks. Investigators said the two allegedly searched online, watched suspense films and discussed ways to make the incident appear accidental.

According to police, the couple visited several locations, including Visapur Fort and Tiger Point in Lonavala, before allegedly selecting Lohagad Fort because they believed it would leave no trace.

Police said Siya and Ketan visited Lohagad on May 31, allegedly as a possible reconnaissance trip. Investigators also claimed that another attempt was planned on June 3 but was interrupted after Ketan's family objected because of the upcoming Bali trip.

Police further alleged that Siya later stole Ketan's passport during a trip to Mumbai, resulting in the cancellation of the Bali holiday.

According to police, an alleged attempt was made on June 14 but failed. Investigators claim Ketan was pushed by Siya but survived after holding onto a shrub. Police said Siya allegedly told him she had pushed him to protect him from a snake.

Four days later, police allege that Ketan was pushed into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18. After the incident, Siya allegedly informed Ketan's family that he had slipped while hiking.

Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary were arrested on June 23. They have been placed in judicial custody while police continue examining evidence related to the case. Authorities have not announced a final conclusion in the matter, and the allegations made by police will be tested through the legal process.
