Mumbai, January 11: Women enrolled under Maharashtra government’s Ladki Bahin Yojana, officially known as the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, are facing uncertainty as the December instalment of INR 1,500 remains unpaid for many beneficiaries. With January also underway and no official payment date announced, concerns are mounting over when the pending amount will be credited.

What Is Causing the Delay?

The state government has not issued a formal clarification yet, but multiple factors are being cited in media reports:

• Mandatory eKYC process: To prevent misuse of the scheme, the government made eKYC compulsory, leading to temporary pauses during verification.

Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare earlier announced an extension for completing eKYC.
