Students Jump Into Canal To Rescue Woman
According to police, the woman had jumped into the canal with the intention of suicide. Krishna Gupta and Saddam Hussain were present near the spot when they noticed her being swept by the strong current. Despite the risk involved, the two students entered the canal without delay.
The students displayed courage and presence of mind while reaching the drowning woman and bringing her to safety. Woman Identified After Rescue
Police identified the woman as Sakina Ansari, about 30 years old, a resident of Jahda under Kothibar police station. Her in-laws live in Chitauna village, which falls under the Nichlaul police station area.
According to the police investigation, Sakina had taken the step following a family dispute. After she was rescued, police checked her health and made sure that she had recovered. Once her condition was stable, her family was informed. Her family subsequently reached the spot and took her home.
Police Praise Students' Courage
The police administration has praised Krishna Gupta, a resident of Sekhuai, and Saddam Hussain, a resident of Kohdwal, for their efforts to save the woman's life. The two students stepped forward despite the strong current and the risks involved in entering the canal.
Superintendent of Police Shakti Mohan Awasthi has decided to publicly honour both students with a citation. The Superintendent of Police (SP) said that the courage and human compassion displayed by both students during this crisis is commendable. Their recognition will inspire other youth and ordinary citizens to come forward to help those in need.
