A peacock trapped inside the front engine assembly of a moving passenger train was successfully rescued by railway staff, Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel and local residents at Shegaon Railway Station in Maharashtra's Buldhana district. The bird, which had become lodged in the locomotive coupling deck of the Bhusawal-Badnera MEMU passenger train, was safely freed after the train arrived at the station.

According to railway officials, the peacock became trapped in the locomotive coupling deck while the train was in motion.

Railway Staff, GRP and Locals Join Rescue Operation

Railway officials promptly informed the Government Railway Police (GRP), who joined railway employees and local residents in rescuing the bird. Working carefully, the team managed to free the peacock without causing it any additional injuries.

Following the rescue, the bird underwent a preliminary examination and was found to be free of any major injuries. It was subsequently handed over to wildlife experts for observation before being released back into the wild. The operation was completed swiftly, allowing the passenger train to resume its journey without any significant delay or disruption.

A video of the rescue operation has gone viral on social media, with users praising the prompt response of railway staff, GRP personnel and local residents for saving India's national bird.

Sharing the video on X, railway expert Rajendra Aklekar wrote: "Poor peacock stuck in MEMU train rescued. Caught in the coupling deck of the Bhusaval-Badnera train, was taken out at Shegaon station."
