According to officials from the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking, the electric bus operating on route 705/36 was traveling from the Dindoshi Depot toward Bhayander Station (East). While taking a right turn beneath the Western Express Highway flyover opposite Oberoi Mall, the bus brushed against the rear right side of a private car before swerving into an adjacent Mumbai Metro rail support pillar. The impact caused injuries to two individuals at the scene. Among those hurt was 57-year-old passenger Mangesh Ramchandra Modlekar, who suffered head and chin injuries. A BEST accident inspector promptly responded to the location and coordinated the transfer of both injured individuals to the Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari East for medical evaluation and treatment.
Following preliminary on-site investigations, police officials directed emergency teams to clear the intersection. A BEST towing vehicle subsequently removed the damaged bus from the crash site and moved it to the Vanrai Police Station premises. Local police authorities have launched a formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Based on a complaint filed by the driver of the private car involved in the incident, the Vanrai Police Station has registered a case against the BEST bus driver for further investigation.
