A 40-year-old photographer has been arrested for allegedly drowning his 10-year-old son in the sea at Manori, with police suspecting that the accused carried out the act to "teach his wife a lesson" following a domestic dispute. The following day, Gorai police recovered the child's body from Kolevem Beach. While checking missing person reports filed at nearby police stations, investigators found the complaint registered at Malvani police station regarding the disappearance of Rao and his son.
Police then traced Rao to his sister's residence in Versova, where he was allegedly hiding. During questioning, police said Rao allegedly confessed to drowning his son and told investigators that he acted out of anger following the dispute with his wife, intending to punish her. Officials also said Rao had informed his sister about the incident.
Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Nivatkar said: “The accused was apprehended by the Malvani police before being handed over to the Gorai police for further investigation.” Police have registered a murder case against Rao, and further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events.
