Mumbai, February 11: A woman, who is an accused in a chocolate theft case, has alleged rape by a constable of the Mumbai Police. Following the complaint, the accused constable - Madhukar Avhad - was arrested on Saturday. The victim, who was allegedly caught stealing chocolates from a departmental store on February 6, alleged she was sexually assaulted by Avhad at a lodge in Mumbai, reports TOI.

The matter came to light when the woman's husband found that her objectionable pictures were shared on her WhatsApp account. On being asked, the woman narrated her alleged ordeal to her husband who then approached the police. The woman claimed that Avhad had threatened to initiate action against her in the chocolate theft case if she spoke to anyone about the rape incident. 10-year-old Girl Raped by Sweeper Inside Civic Body-run School in Delhi.

Following a complaint, the police arrested Avhad who is attached with the MIDC police station in Andheri. Avhad has been sent to two-day police custody. Manoj Sharma, additional commissioner of police (west region), said a departmental inquiry will be ordered against the constable and he would be suspended.
