Mumbai, December 19: The citizens of Mumbai are out on the streets this evening to protest against the amended Citizenship Act, CAA. At August Kranti Maidan, a huge number of masses have gathered, including students, activists and even politicians. Glimpses from the huge turnout are being shared on social media platforms. Nationwide protests have begun in the last few days and people are urging to carry out silent and peaceful protests. The police force is also deployed to ensure safety measures here. Similar protests were seen in the city on December 16 to express solidarity with the students of the Jamia Millia Islamia and AMU protesting against the amended Citizenship Act. Students from the Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) and the University of Mumbai held protests to opposing not just CAA but even the NRC act. The pictures show the huge turnout that was seen this evening. A lot of protestors were young people and students, many of them carrying innovative placards opposing the CAA. As expected to be the largest demonstration against Citizenship Law and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) so far in Mumbai, the citizens did not disappoint.
