An 18-year-old NEET aspirant allegedly died by suicide in Maharashtra's Hingoli district after recording an emotional video message for his mother shortly before taking the extreme step.

The student, identified as Sushil Dhage, had appeared for the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination held on June 21 after the original medical entrance exam conducted on May 3 was cancelled following allegations of a question paper leak.

"Mom, I am going to take my own life today. Mom, please don't worry at all. In my next life, I will be born from your womb again and won't cause you this kind of pain," he said with folded hands.

He continued, "Just forgive me, Mom. Stay with Sumedh, Mom. Take good care of yourself and don't worry about me. I am in deep pain... I can't do anything... I don't understand anything anymore. According to reports, he sent the video to his family before jumping into a well.

The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate medical admissions was originally conducted on May 3 but was cancelled on May 12 after allegations of a paper leak surfaced. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) later arrested the alleged kingpin in the case, identifying him as a Pune-based chemistry lecturer. A fresh examination was subsequently held on June 21.

NEET is one of India's largest entrance examinations, with millions of candidates competing each year for around 1,00,000 undergraduate medical seats.
