According to the police, the victim, identified as Tukaram Kisan Raut, was confronted by his sons regarding the sale of a land parcel that was registered under the name of their mother, Anjana Raut. A video capturing the assault was widely circulated on social media, prompting swift action by local authorities. Following a complaint filed by Raut, the Indapur Police Station registered a case against his sons, identified as Sanjay Tukaram Raut and Rajendra Tukaram Raut. The case has been filed under Crime Register No. 536/2026, invoking Sections 118(1), 352, 351(2), 351(3), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Additional Superintendent of Police Ganesh Birajdar stated that, alongside the criminal charges under the BNS, police are proposing separate action under senior citizen welfare and protection laws to address the deliberate assault on an elderly parent.
