Quadruplets in UP: Woman Delivers 4 Babies Over 5 Days in Rare Normal Birth

In an extraordinary and rare obstetric case, a woman from Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh delivered quadruplets over a span of five days through normal delivery at TMU Hospital in Moradabad. While the case drew wide medical attention for its complexity, the firstborn child, a baby boy, tragically did not survive on Friday evening due to extremely low birth weight and premature birth.

How the Rare Delivery Unfolded Over Five Days

Amina, in her late 20s, delivered the first baby boy weighing approximately 710 grams on May 9. Doctors then made a deliberate medical decision to delay the remaining three deliveries to allow the other fetuses more time to develop inside the womb. Amina subsequently gave birth to another boy and two girls on Thursday, completing one of the most unusual delivery timelines seen in recent obstetric cases in India. Quadruplets in Chhattisgarh: Tribal Woman Gives Birth to Four Babies.

Medical Challenges Behind This High-Risk Pregnancy

Amina was diagnosed with four fetuses early in her pregnancy, immediately classifying it as a high-risk case requiring constant supervision. She underwent check-ups every 15 to 20 days throughout her pregnancy at TMU Hospital and suffered from hypertension and liver-related complications, necessitating multiple hospitalisations along the way.

According to the medical team led by Dr Shubhra Agarwal, the biggest challenges were managing premature delivery and dangerously low birth weight across all four newborns. Bihar: Woman Gives Birth to Quadruplets, All Boys, in Arrah; Mother and Four Newborns Safe (Watch Video).

Current Condition of the Surviving Newborns

Hospital spokesperson Mandeep Singh confirmed that of the three surviving babies, one is stable and breastfeeding, while the other two continue to require special medical care. Amina and her husband, who run a modest grocery store in Sambhal, are being supported by the hospital team through this emotionally and medically demanding journey.
