The accident took place in the Rampur Maniharan area near Halgoya village when the family, residents of Bahadurgarh in Haryana's Sonipat district, was travelling to Haridwar in a Tata Tiago.

According to police, the CCTV footage shows the car attempting to reverse on the highway when a speeding Bolero SUV approaching from behind crashed into its rear. The force of the collision sent the Tiago crashing into a road divider before bouncing across the carriageway and striking another divider. The deceased have been identified as Charan Singh, his wife Sudesh, daughter-in-law Preeti, and grandson Shivansh. Doctors declared the four victims dead on arrival, while the injured remain in critical condition and are undergoing treatment.

Police have seized both vehicles and initiated legal action against the SUV driver. A detailed investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events.

Preliminary findings suggest that overspeeding and negligent driving were the primary causes of the crash. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination as police continue their investigation into the fatal road accident.
