Security Guard Dies After Gate Collapses at MEA Hostel in New Delhi

A 50-year-old security guard lost his life on Sunday after a heavy main gate collapsed on him at the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Hostel in Lutyens' Delhi. The victim, identified as Dharmpal, hailed from Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh. He had been employed at the facility, located on Ravi Shankar Shukla Lane under the jurisdiction of the Sansad Marg Police Station, for the past seven to eight years.

According to preliminary details provided by the Delhi Police, Dharmpal had reported for his regular morning shift at around 9:00 AM. The incident occurred approximately three hours later, around 12:00 PM, when the hostel’s gate suddenly detached and collapsed directly onto him. Co-workers and local personnel rushed to his aid and immediately transported him to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital.
