Telangana: 18-Year-Old Nursing Student Found Dead With Injuries in Bhadradri Kothagudem

An 18-year-old nursing student, who had returned home to her native village in Telangana to spend her college holidays with her family, was found dead with injuries on her body under suspicious circumstances on Tuesday, September 22. The deceased, identified as Harini, was a resident of Vengannapalem village in Bhadradri Kothagudem district and was enrolled at a private nursing institution near Khammam.

The discovery was made after her mother returned from visiting relatives nearby and noticed her daughter missing from the house, India Today reported. According to police, Harini's mother, Rajeshwari, had gone to a relative's house in the same village and, upon returning, realised that her daughter was missing. She then began searching for her, following which Harini was found dead behind the bathroom in the house, and several injuries were visible on her body.

The injuries have raised questions about the circumstances surrounding her death. Harini's mother has expressed suspicion about a person living in a neighbouring house and sought a thorough investigation into the matter.

Police have not established the involvement of any individual so far and the exact cause and circumstances of Harini's death remain under investigation.

The police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident, while a clues team was also called to examine the scene and collect evidence. Scientific experts documented the scene of crime, lifting latent prints and examining physical surroundings for any signs of a struggle.

The body was shifted to the government hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have registered a case based on a complaint from the family and are investigating the death from various angles, awaiting the autopsy report to confirm the precise cause of death.

Harini's father had died a few years ago, after which her mother had been working as a daily-wage labourer to support and educate her two daughters. Harini had recently returned to Vengannapalem from her college hostel near Khammam to spend her academic vacation with her family before the tragic incident occurred.
