A 24-year-old woman who was around seven months pregnant was allegedly beaten to death by her husband following a domestic dispute in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district. The woman's mother-in-law was also injured while allegedly trying to intervene and stop the assault, police said. The incident took place in Myora village under the Bilgram Kotwali area, around 30 km from the Hardoi district headquarters. The accused husband has been taken into custody, and an investigation is underway, TOI reported.
Domestic Dispute Turns Fatal
The deceased, identified as Kiran, had been married to Vishal, 26, for around three years, according to police and family members. Police said the couple allegedly had an argument at around 4 pm on Tuesday over an issue that is still being investigated. The dispute reportedly escalated, following which Vishal allegedly picked up a wooden stick and assaulted Kiran.
Mother-in-Law Also Injured
Police said Vishal's mother, Prema, allegedly intervened in an attempt to save Kiran. She was also reportedly assaulted and sustained injuries. Neighbours rushed to the house after hearing the commotion and took the injured woman to a Community Health Centre. Doctors examined Kiran and declared her dead, officials said. Husband Taken Into Custody
Police reached the village after receiving information about the incident and took the accused husband into custody. Kiran's body was sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. The woman's parental family has also been informed about the incident.
Investigation Underway
Bilgram Kotwali Inspector Vijay Kumar said police began an investigation immediately after reaching the scene. Investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the altercation, the sequence of events and allegations made by the deceased woman's family. Further legal action will be taken based on the family's complaint and the findings of the investigation, police said.
