A nearly 8-foot-long snake was found hiding behind a gas cylinder in the kitchen of a house in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar, leaving a family startled on Monday, September 28. The incident took place in the Rusalla area in Sagar when a woman walked into the kitchen during the morning hours to begin routine domestic chores and spotted the large reptile coiled in the narrow corner behind the cylinder.

She immediately rushed out of the kitchen and alerted other family members. The family members then came out of the house after realising that a large snake was inside the kitchen. Rather than attempting to handle the reptile themselves, the residents secured the room from outside and immediately contacted local snake rescue services for assistance. Kerala Python Rescue Video: Reptile Swallows Chicken in Kozhikode Coop, Throws Out Last 1 After Being Caught.

Snake catcher Bablu Pawar reached the spot and inspected the kitchen to locate the reptile. Since the snake was hiding behind the gas cylinder, he had to proceed carefully while attempting to bring it out without aggravating the animal or damaging domestic gas fixtures.

The family was kept at a safe distance during the rescue to avoid any risk in case the snake suddenly emerged from its hiding place. After considerable effort, Pawar managed to safely catch the snake. According to snake catcher Bablu Pawar, the rescued snake was an approximately 8-foot-long ghoda pachhad species. The non-venomous Oriental rat snake, widely known in northern and central India as ghoda pachhad, is recognized for its length, agility, and role in controlling agricultural rodent populations.

After it was safely caught, preparations were made to release it in the forest away from human habitations. The family breathed a sigh of relief after the snake was safely rescued. However, the discovery of a nearly 8-foot-long snake inside a kitchen also left people in the surrounding area startled.

The incident comes during the rainy season, when snakes and other animals often leave their usual hiding places in search of safer shelter. It is believed that the snake may have entered the house through an opening while seeking protection from the rain before hiding behind the gas cylinder in the kitchen.

The snake catcher advised people to keep their surroundings clean during the rainy season and pay attention to places where snakes could hide. He also urged people not to try to catch or kill a snake themselves if one is spotted inside or around a house, and instead immediately contact a trained snake catcher or expert so that both people and the reptile can be kept safe.
