The investigation into the murder of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal has taken a fresh turn, with sources claiming that the prime accused, Siya Goyal, had secretly married her boyfriend and co-accused, Chetan Chaudhary, around four months before Agarwal's death. Police are now verifying whether the couple legally registered their marriage under the Special Marriage Act.

The alleged marriage, if confirmed, would have taken place after Goyal's engagement to Agarwal in February. Agarwal, 25, died on June 18 after allegedly being pushed off a cliff at Lohagad Fort. Police have accused Goyal and Chaudhary of conspiring to kill him because she did not want to go ahead with the marriage. How Siya Goyal Studied Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case Before Ketan Agarwal’s Killing.

Did Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary Marry in Secret? Police Verify Secret Marriage Claims

According to sources, Pune Rural Police are examining claims that Goyal and Chaudhary secretly married at a local registrar's office several months before the incident.

Investigators are verifying whether a marriage certificate exists under the Special Marriage Act. They are also questioning two of Goyal's college friends who allegedly signed as witnesses during the registration process. Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Accused Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary Decline Polygraph Test.

Police technical teams are attempting to recover deleted photographs from a private Instagram account that reportedly showed the accused couple wearing wedding garlands.

Investigators are also examining Chaudhary's bank records to determine whether any payment was made to bypass the mandatory public notice required under the Special Marriage Act.

Digital Evidence Under Examination

According to investigators, digital evidence recovered during the probe has become a key part of the case.

Police have analysed call records, location data, chat messages and internet search history from the accused's mobile phones. Officials also recovered deleted data that allegedly revealed the couple communicated using nicknames and sign language after planning the crime.

Investigators suspect the alleged murder plot was accelerated after Agarwal's family requested Goyal's documents to prepare for their destination wedding in Udaipur, which had been scheduled for November.

Police have also claimed that an initial attempt to kill Agarwal was allegedly made on June 14 but did not succeed. According to investigators, Goyal later messaged Chaudhary: "I don't have the courage to do it, you come too — together we'll push him off the cliff." Police allege the two then carried out the plan together on June 18.

Victim's Father Recounts Earlier Incident

Ketan Agarwal's father, Vishal Agarwal, also alleged that his son had survived an earlier attempt on his life during a visit to Lohagad Fort.

"On June 14, they both went to the fort alone, and Siya pushed Ketan. After the push, Ketan grabbed a bush and escaped. He then began to regain consciousness, realising that he had been pushed and that he had survived. Fearing the secret would be revealed, Siya shouted 'snake, snake', and went and hugged him." Police are continuing to investigate these allegations.

Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary remain in judicial custody. A Pune court has extended their custody until July 16 while investigators continue examining digital evidence, financial records and the alleged secret marriage. Police have not yet officially confirmed the existence of a marriage certificate, and the investigation remains ongoing.
