West Bengal: Man Arrested After Elder Daughter Left Home Following Abuse, Father Then Targeted 13-Year-Old Sister

Police in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district have arrested a man for allegedly s*xually assaulting his 13-year-old minor daughter over a period of several months. Officers from the Baruipur Women Police Station apprehended the suspect from the Kulpi Road area following a formal complaint lodged by his elder daughter.

The arrest came after the suspect's elder daughter, who had previously left the family home due to alleged misconduct by her father, reported the ongoing abuse to emergency services by calling 100. According to police sources, the younger sister had been subjected to continuous sexual harassment after her older sibling moved out. Investigations revealed that both sisters had previously brought the matter to their mother's attention. However, their mother reportedly remained silent and declined to act on their complaints, leaving the victims without immediate support at home. The accused has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. Senior officials of the Baruipur Police District confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway to probe all aspects of the allegations.
