Police have arrested three members of a family in connection with an alleged cow slaughter case in the Ganga Nagar area of Prayagraj, officials said on Thursday, September 10. The accused have been identified as Sagar Shukla, 22, his mother Rachna Shukla, 52, and his sister Anita Shukla, 20.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ganga Nagar) Kuldeep Gunawat said the three accused were arrested near Bajha Mishran village during the investigation into the alleged incident. The case was registered after Nagesh Kumar Tripathi, a resident of Chaura Badera village, approached the police and reported that his cow had gone missing on September 3, PTI reported. According to the complaint, the cow had been tied to a post before it disappeared.

Police subsequently investigated the circumstances surrounding the animal's disappearance and the alleged slaughter. Officials said the recovered items, including the alleged weapons and cow hide, have been taken into custody as part of the investigation. The INR 880 recovered from the accused is also being examined in connection with the alleged sale of meat.

The arrests come as police continue to investigate the case and establish the exact sequence of events. Authorities are also expected to examine other evidence gathered during the probe to determine the role of each accused.

Police have not indicated that the investigation has concluded, and further details are awaited. The allegations against the three accused will be subject to the ongoing legal process and any subsequent proceedings before the court.
